The author has tried to evaluate the necessity and importance of dynamic psychotherapy in treating the depressed patients and has reviewed the historical vicissitudes of the concept of depression, the differences between minor depression and

depression, the childhood experinces of the depressed patients, the process of psychotherapy, and the efficacy of dynamic psychotherapy in treating the depressed patients.
